If you've been dying to get your hands on the new 2013 Ford Focus Electric, you're somewhat in luck. Though the new EV isn't yet available in the greater New Orleans, LA, it will be soon, as Ford has announced that 67 select dealerships in New Jersey, California, and New York will receive vehicles this spring. These markets make up a large percentage of electric vehicle sales in the United States, and they will be test markets for the vehicle. The best news? The new Ford Focus Electric will be dispersed nationwide later this year.
For a Ford dealership to receive the vehicles, they must meet the company's guidelines for selling electric vehicles, including participation in very specialized training in the field of electric vehicles and the installation of at least two on-site charging stations, one of which must be in the customer area and the other of which must be located in the service area. In addition, at least one Ford Focus Electric must be on-site at all times for events and demonstrations.
The new Ford Focus Electric achieves 110 mpg in the city and 99 mpg on the highway, according to EPA estimates and has a price starting around $40k. It is eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit.
