Jay Leno is a late-night talk show host who has a reputation for being a "car man." In fact, he even produces his own online auto series titled Jay Leno's Garage. Because of his star status, Leno often has the chance to drive impressive vehicles that many people wouldn't have access to. However, sometimes he drives sporty cars that are available to everyone, like the new 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Turns out, Leno couldn't have been more impressed!
Before Leno stepped foot in the Mustang, he had the opportunity to talk to Ford SVT Chief Engineer Jamal Hameedi, who brought a 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 along with him to the show. After Leno takes the Shelby GT500 for a drive during the show, he finds out that it's much faster than many of the other sporty autos he keeps in his garage because of its supercharged 5.8-liter V-8 engine that delivers 662 horsepower and 631 lb.-ft. of torque. This gives the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 the ability to reach zero-to-sixty in under four seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph.
Despite the amount of power it holds, the Shelby GT500 has a starting price of only $54,200, with the convertible version starting at $5,000 more. Available packages include a Performance Package and a Track Package.
