The Ford Explorer has been named North American Truck of the Year at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, beating out both the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango. The prestigious Award is presented by a jury of 49 veteran automotive journalists from Canada and the United States. 2010 Sales of Ford F-Series pickups, including the all new F-150, have rebounded over 2009 by at least 21 percent.

In fact, according to Ford spokeswoman Anne Marie Gattari, Ford sold more than 500,000 F-150 light-duty trucks, F-250, F-350 and F-450 heavy-duty trucks in 2010. To get a better picture, that is about 9,800 trucks per week on an annual basis.
